Suomalainen Ystävä. Passion’s Grace 23/9/2012
So what happened was I bumped into this street performer at Clarke Quay. Her name is Janika, and she’s from Lapland, Finland. Excited to know that she’s Finnish, I decided to strike up a conversation with her, and during the conversation, I mentioned that I did try to learn a little Finnish.
Janika: Moi!
Me: Moi! Hyvää Päivää!
Janika: *laughing at my bad pronouncation, but very pleased*
Me: Kiitos!
Janika: Kiitoksia paljon.
For the first time, I spoke Finnish to a Finnish. A language that I learnt by myself with no one learning with me. She was also really pleased to know someone speaking Finnish in Singapore that is a local.
Best night ever.
